Criteria for a schizoid
International
Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), offers the following criteria:

(a) Emotional coldness,
detachment or reduced affection.
[Shows emotional coldness, detachment
or flattened affect]
(b) Limited capacity to express either positive or negative emotions towards others.
(c) Consistent preference for solitary
activities.
[Almost always chooses
solitary activities]
(d) Very few, if any, close friends
or relationships, and a lack of desire for such.
[Neither desires nor enjoys
close relationships, including being part of a family]
[Lacks close friends or confidants other than
first-degree relatives]
(e) Indifference to either praise or criticism.
[Appears indifferent to the
praise or criticism of others]
(f) Taking pleasure in few, if any, activities.
[Takes pleasure in few, if
any, activities]
(g) Indifference to social norms and conventions.
(h) Preoccupation with fantasy and introspection
(i) Lack of desire for sexual experiences with another person.
[Has little, if any, interest
in having sexual experiences with another person]
Excludes:
* Asperger's syndrome
* delusional disorder
* schizophrenia
* schizotypal disorder
